Steel Encounters Makes Changes to Leadership Team

Steel Encounters started 2021 with some major changes to its leadership team, according to the company’s Facebook page.

Tom Jackson becomes president and CEO

Tom Jackson became president and CEO, after previously holding the position of president. Jackson’s career began with Window Supply in 1989; he later owned and operated Custom Window Solutions and joined Steel Encounters in 1996 as construction manager. His industry experience, coupled with specialized training in construction management, estimating and quantifying construction productivity, as well as majors in both Business and Physical Education from Western Oregon State College led him to his current position as president and CEO for the company. Jackson was instrumental in founding the Utah Glass Association in 2018, as well as a major employee engagement campaign, driving sales and client service to new levels. The company welcomes new executive Vice Presidents

The company also announced the appointment of Derek Losee as executive vice president, Architectural Division, and Brad Hardy as executive vice president, Structural Division.

Former co-owner of Reflective Product Sales, Losee joined Steel Encounters in 2005 and has since elevated the company to one of the largest design-assist glazing contractors in the west. Working closely with architects and builders in the development of details and specifications for building envelope, custom curtain wall systems, and unique glazing and structural glass systems, he manages the company’s Architectural Division, which includes a team of 195 professionals. Hardy attended UTC and began his career in the steel industry in 1980, where he gained a wealth of industry experience. He joined Steel Encounters in 2005. Providing value-based steel joist and deck building solutions to clients throughout the Western United States, Hardy currently provides supervision and oversight on an average of 600 construction projects a year for Steel Encounters. The structural division of Steel Encounters employs an average of 60 professionals in multiple locations, including Salt Lake City, Seattle and Jacksonville, Arkansas. His previous employers include Mark Steel, D&H Steel, JT Steel and Sanpete Steel.

Pam Foote, executive vice president, Retires

Pam Foote, executive vice president, Intermountain Structural Division, retired after almost 34 years. Foote began her career with Steel Encounters as a receptionist and multi-tasker to help the founders bring their vision for the company to life. Today, collectively through all company divisions, Steel Encounters provides materials and services on more than 700 construction projects per year. Her knowledge and dedication to her team and the industry is immeasurable, and we know those she worked for, and beside, join us in wishing her a long, happy and healthy retirement! Pam will continue to serve as ESOP Trustee Chair/Board Member, Steel Encounters.
