Fire-Rated Glazing Shapes Safer, Daylit School Design

Eric Hamber Secondary School sets a benchmark for modern, safety-driven educational design in Vancouver, BC. Replacing a 1960s facility, the building integrates advanced fire- and life-safety strategies with open, student-centered spaces. Central to this vision are fire-rated glazing systems from Technical Glass Products, including the Fireframes SG Curtainwall® Series with Pilkington Pyrostop® transparent wall panels and Fireframes® Designer Series Doors paired with Fireframes Aluminum Series sidelites and transoms.  These systems enable expansive glazed openings that support compartmentation and safe egress while preserving daylight and visibility. The result is a resilient, code-compliant school that demonstrates how fire-rated glazing can seamlessly unite safety, performance, and contemporary design.
