Eastman is helping advance the future of glazing for electric vehicles (EVs) with the launch of Saflex Evoca RSL, the first product under the Saflex Evoca platform. This new rigid acoustic PVB interlayer was created for EV sidelite applications, offering enhanced design flexibility to achieve a more optimal balance between acoustic comfort and door system weight.

Saflex Evoca RSL aims to enhance acoustic performance while also providing the stiffness required for frameless and flush sidelite designs, giving OEMs and glass suppliers more design freedom. With the increasing focus on acoustic laminated door glazing in EVs, Saflex Evoca RSL addresses the need for effective wind noise reduction. These benefits are achieved while maintaining thinner glazing configurations that can help reduce overall vehicle weight and help extend driving range.

Argotec Edge Seal and Edge Seal Plus Films are designed to protect laminated glass composites, regardless of the interlayer type. These proprietary films provide additional security and durability to finished glass lamination applications. Meant for architectural glazing and transportation glazing, they dramatically enhance moisture and solvent resistance, have an aesthetically pleasing appearance, reduced interlayer and laminate degradation and reduced edge chipping during handling and installation.

Their design keeps moisture and harmful chemicals out of laminated glass composites. A thin layer of black polyurethane cushions the edge of the glass composite and accepts the embossed pattern of the carrier through the autoclaving process, this layer can be removed following lamination. Clear, diamond pattern embossed carrier, may also be removed following lamination. A thick adhesive layer of clear TPU bonds Edge Seal to the glass laminate. EdgeSeal Plus has a proprietary foil layer between two sheets of tough, chemical-resistant polyurethane.

Satinal launched Strato Rigido, its first structural laminating interlayer. The product is compliant with EN 16613 certification, and its certified structural characteristics make it suitable to withstand large loadings without losing its rigidity. Strato Rigido provides maximum protection against strong impacts: the breakage of the glass component does not affect the whole laminated structure. This interlayer also provides other properties, such as color, transparency, UV protection, sound insulation, solar control and bird safety.
