Dow Previewed Integrated Insulating Glass Edge System at glasstec 2026
Dow previewed the Dowsil Power Edge System at glasstec 2026, giving customers a first look at an integrated insulating glass edge system that combines reactive thermoplastic spacer technology with high-strength silicone. The trade fair took place Oct. 20-23 at the Düsseldorf Fairground in Germany.
The system pairs the new Dowsil Power Edge 3000 Reactive Thermoplastic Spacer with Dowsil high-strength silicones. Dow said the innovation reflects its view of the insulating glass edge as a system connected to the facades and windows around it.
The company also previewed Dowsil Power Bond 9000, a pre-applied silicone strip representing a next-generation structural bonding concept. Dow said the product is intended to improve sustainability, productivity and material efficiency.
Under the theme “Assess. Re-Use. Re-Bond.,” Dow shared its work in facade assessment, glass reuse and renovation. Project examples showed how Dow and industry collaborators are exploring ways to evaluate disassembly, glass reuse and re-bonding opportunities to preserve existing building value and inform renovation decisions.
“Customers are looking for solutions that support every stage of the facade lifecycle, from new construction to renovation,” said Markus Plettau, Dow’s global segment leader for facades.
Visitors also explored Dow technologies for structural glazing, insulating glass, weather sealing, glass embedding, panel attachment, repair and fire protection. The company also showcased Dow Building Science Connect, a digital tool that lets users navigate Dow technologies, applications and project resources in a virtual city environment.
