John A. "Norman" Foxworth, Senior, 85, founder and owner of Dependable Glass Works in Covington, Louisiana, passed away on October 15.
Norman worked at several of his in-laws’ businesses in downtown Covington, including Miley’s Glass. There he learned the glass business from the ground up, and before long he set out to make his own mark on the industry.
In 1967, he founded Dependable Glass Works, Inc. in Covington as a one-man shop. He grew the small business venture into a respected company and innovator in the glass industry, fabricating specialized glass products for customers locally, across the country and around the world. Dependable Glass Works’ glass can be seen on the exterior of the One World Trade Center in New York, as well as inside the Super Dome Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana, and on many of the high-rise buildings and hotels in New Orleans.
During his 60 years as CEO, opening the doors of Dependable Glass Works at 5:00 a.m. every morning, Foxworth became a pillar within the Covington community, according to his obituary. He served as President and member of the Board of Directors of the Covington Chamber of Commerce, recognized with the “Legacy Award” by the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce, member of the Louisiana welcoming committee to the French Ambassador, Krewe Captain and Member of the Mystic Krewe of Olympia.
