Trex Commercial Products Teams Up with Hanley Wood University for Virtual Education Summit

Trex Commercial Products is partnering with Hanley Wood University to present a virtual CEU course, “Efficient Design Utilizing Decorative Guardrails,” to be held Wednesday, July 29, at 11 a.m. EST.

Presented by Trex Commercial Products’ National Sales Manager Shelly Farmer, the webinar will examine guardrails in terms of structure, safety and style. Attendees will learn all about specifying for guardrails, including loading requirements, safety factors, IBC code criteria, materials, finishes and more.

This is an opportunity for architects and specifiers to learn something new or brush up on their knowledge and receive AIA continuing education credits, say the organizers. At the end of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Explain how loading requirements, member selection and deflection affect guardrail system design and performance
  • Recall 2018 IBC code criteria related to handrails and guards, and apply them to the design of a safe guardrail system
  • Discuss the advantages and considerations of three types of glass guardrail support systems (base show supported, post supported and point supported)
  • Specify guardrail materials, finishes and infills that are appropriate for the project environment, design goals, aesthetic and budget
