Sunshades

SAF's vertical and horizontal sunshade fins are available for customers designing commercial buildings. The new sunshade fins are designed for installation on exterior walls, primarily over windows or glazed openings, delivering benefits ranging from energy savings to occupant comfort and more.

SAF sunshade fins can be anodized, powder-coated, or painted and can be fabricated up to 20 feet in length. Fins can be made from sheet metal or extruded shapes.

They are created with either aluminum or steel, are designed to mitigate solar heat gain by intercepting sunlight before it reaches the window, significantly minimizing the amount of solar radiation permitted to enter. By preventing excessive heat gain, the fins provide a host of benefits, including reduced demand on the air conditioning system, overall energy savings, and improved occupant comfort.

The new sunshade fins also provide glare control. Fins can be fabricated to varying shapes and sizes and installed in a specified orientation on the building to optimize daylight, allowing it to properly diffuse throughout an interior space.

Plastic extrusions

Vip will promote the company’s decades of experience manufacturing thousands of unique custom plastic extrusions in almost every shape, size and color. The company’s specialty lies in making plastic profiles specifically for window and glass applications. Its capabilities range from very complex, custom-made parts and profiles to simple, more common and standard shapes. Vip makes its dies in-house, so it has the flexibility to create brand-new parts when customers are ready to order.

Silicone foam spacer

A flexible, silicone foam spacer product, Super Spacer provides the maximum perimeter insulation for sealed glazing units and prevents condensation. Desiccant-filled with pre-applied side adhesive, the structural foam spacer significantly simplifies insulating glass production, say officials. Featuring a vapor barrier backing, the product must be used in combination with conventional IG sealants such as hot melt butyl, polyurethane and solvent-free polysulfide. Dual seal equivalent sealants may also be used.

Warm-edge spacer

Quanex’s Super Spacer warm-edge technology is used in energy-efficient window designs in residential and commercial applications. Super Spacer is a premium energy-efficient and sustainable solution for high-volume production of dual- and triple-pane insulating glass. A true dual-seal warm-edge spacer line, Super Spacer products use a high-performance acrylic adhesive for their structural seal, backed by a moisture vapor seal. Super Spacer offers energy efficiency, sustainability, and has demonstrated proof of performance, reliability and thermal excellence, say officials.

Warm-edge spacer system

H.B. Fuller’s Ködispace 4SG warm-edge spacer system is the premier solution for both commercial and residential applications, say officials. The product’s formulation chemically bonds to glass and silicone secondary sealant. There is no spacer migration, and it has a higher temperature stability than standard insulating glass with polyisobutylene, in addition to an increased resistance to incompatible glazing conditions, say officials. The product is currently the only reactive thermoplastic spacer system available, officials say.

Thermal break profiles

Ensinger - insulbar thermal break profiles are a vital component of modern window, door or façade systems made of metal. They eliminate thermal bridging between interior and exterior surfaces, improving overall performance of the system and reducing energy loss, according to company officials. The insulating profiles are available in many shapes, sizes and materials to meet even the most complex requirements.
