CRL introduced TURBOFLEX, a glass railing system. TURBOFLEX enables glaziers to save time during the railing installation process while achieving adjustability and performance. The new railing system has also passed Miami-Dade HVHZ testing.
TURBOFLEX installation method
- Eliminates bulky and costly installation tools.
- A single base shoe accommodates monolithic and laminated glass thicknesses from 1/2-inch to 27/32-inch to simplify ordering and reduce jobsite errors.
- Secures glass panels with a single screw using a proprietary torque-limiter tool and drill.
- Offers ±2 degrees of glass tilt adjustment for a precise plumb and level.
- Height adjusters (±1/8-inch) are available to precisely align glass.
“TURBOFLEX is a completely new approach to glass railing installation, dramatically improving precision and efficiency for glaziers,” says Mark Suehiro, senior product manager at CRL. “In our internal testing, installation times have been dramatically faster compared to conventional dry-glaze methods, which ultimately saves contractors time and money.”
More system details
TURBOFLEX includes no expensive installation tool kits; only a torque-controlled installation system designed specifically for TURBOFLEX. There is no need to stock multiple base shoe profiles as the system accommodates a variety of glass thicknesses and options. TURBOFLEX is also compatible with Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope glass products for a one-stop-shop solution – this includes tinted glass, decorative glass, and OBE’s Bird Guard glass.
TURBOFLEX utilizes full-surface glass clamping technology and stainless steel securing components. Contact surfaces follow the glass angle, avoiding stress concentrations and ensuring performance under high loads.
The TURBOFLEX kit includes the following components for a 10-foot base shoe:
- 9 TURBOFLEX clamps
- 1 10-foot drop-side gasket
- 1 10-foot fall-side gasket
