Q+A with Quikserv's CEO and President
Jason Epps represents the company's second generation of leadership, having assumed the role of CEO and president following his acquisition of the business in 2006. Glass Magazine spoke with Epps about the evolution of Quiksev over the past four decades:
What have been some challenges Quikserv has needed to overcome throughout the years?
JE: Quikserv has changed dramatically over the last 40 years. What started out as a small, family-owned glass and window company, has developed into a significant, world-wide player in transaction solutions and security fenestration products. Rapid growth, product development, company professionalization, and market conditions are just a few of the challenges we have faced and overcome over the years. Changing customer demands and concepts has always been a challenge but one that we excel at. We listen to our customers, and we are driven to make them successful by listening to their desires and developing products that meet their needs.
What have been some of Quikserv’s triumphs?
JE: Gaining market share and retaining top blue-chip customers is something we are incredibly proud of. Our customer base contains significant accounts that have a global presence. To be a trusted vendor to these accounts speaks volumes to what our team has accomplished. Adapting to change is another area that we have done well and triumphed. Whether the change was from the original family ownership to 2nd generation ownership…to private equity based ownership, our company has embraced change and the increased demands from ownership and investors. Maintaining our company culture while driving increased business and profitability is something that we have embraced and accomplished.
How has Quikserv’s product offerings evolved throughout the past 40 years?
JE: Quikserv has evolved from a simple, bi-folding, manual , pass thru window to complicated, secure fully automatic window and drawer combination units. We have expanded over the years to provide manual self-closing units, semi-automatic windows, electric models, Dade-County approved units, etc. Any form of transaction window you can think of, we can make.
What’s ahead for the company? Any new products or innovations coming down the pipeline you can speak on?
JE: We will continue to innovate and improve the Quikserv brand. Not only will we listen to our customers desires and wants to build the products to match, we continue to focus on making our products simple for the glazing/contractor community to install and service. Integrating various operating methods, we will continue to innovate products to add safety during the transaction.
What is the key to staying successful in business for so long?
Our people, our culture and our faith. We are a company that is based on integrity and respect to our employees and our customers. While we celebrate the victories, we try to stay humble and continue to focus on how to improve. We try to do the right thing, we show grace, confidence and fairness in our decision-making processes. We remind ourselves we are honored to be in the position we are to make a difference in the lives of people who use or are served thru our products.
More about Quikserv
Founded in 1986 by Texas glazier Jim Epps, Quikserv originated from a request to design a custom drive-thru window for a local restaurant. This initial project served as the foundation for a company that has since grown into a globally recognized provider. To date, Quikserv has manufactured and installed over 150,000 window and pass-thru systems for a diverse range of applications and institutions worldwide.
The company is currently expanding its portfolio of security and ballistic-rated solutions in collaboration with its sister company, U.S. Bullet Proofing, to meet growing demands for enhanced security applications.
To commemorate its 40th anniversary, Quikserv will host a series of partner and employee appreciation events throughout the year. The company will also launch a digital retrospective highlighting its people, flagship projects and key milestones that have defined its four-decade history.
