Vitro VP of Engineering and Technology Honored as Glass Person of the Year 2026 by Phoenix Award Committee

decorativeVice President of Engineering and Technology at Vitro Architectural Glass Roberto Cabrera has been named as the Phoenix Award's Glass Person of the Year, becoming the 54th recipient of this honor.

The Phoenix Award Committee is made up of individuals from supplier companies serving the glass industry and is responsible for selecting the Phoenix Award recipient each year. The award honors a living individual who has made significant, lasting contributions to the glass industry.

Cabrera's accomplishments

Cabrera was recognized for his outstanding achievements and leadership in manufacturing quality, engineering innovation and sustainability across the flat glass industry.

An inventor or co‑inventor of 12 granted U.S. patents, Cabrera has delivered significant advancements in product, process and equipment development. His technical achievements were previously recognized with the Hotbels BTU Award in 2016.

Beyond his technical contributions, Cabrera has demonstrated industry leadership. Since 2021, he has served on the Glass Manufacturing Industry Council (GMIC) Board, representing Vitro and helping guide collaboration across the sector.
