Bangkok Glass Launches Float Plant in Thailand

BGF Glass Co., a manufacturer and distributor of float glass panels operating under Bangkok Glass, launched its first glass production factory in Thailand, according to a report from The Nation. The publication also reported that BGF plans to invest in another factory in the next five years.

The factory, BGF Kabinburi Glass, has a production capacity of 219,000 tons per year, and is expected to expand the business to meet the demands of both domestic and Asian countries. Begun in 2014, BGF is now Thailand's only glass manufacturer, aiming to be the “total glass solutions provider,” said Somporn Temudomsomboon, senior executive vice president for group production.

The factory is a cooperation with BGF's global partner, Glas Trösch Holding AG. “BGF is the first company in Thailand to introduce production technology of hard coated glass,” says Temudomsomboon. “BGF also implements glass quality inspection technology that measures the thickness and scans for any contamination in the glass before delivery to customers."

Chokchai Srisoonthorn, general manager of BG Float Glass, noted that BGF would begin producing clear glass panels. The company's products include tempered glass, laminated glass and energy-efficient glass.
