Quanex Transitions Executive Team

Glass Magazine

On Jan. 1, 2020, Quanex will welcome a new executive team led by George Wilson, president and chief executive officer. Wilson was elected by the board of directors to succeed Bill Griffiths, who will remain with Quanex as executive chairman of the board.

“I am pleased and honored to succeed Bill as the company’s next CEO,” says Wilson. “I would like to thank Bill for his tireless efforts in transforming our company and for all of his support in preparing me for this next step. Quanex is a great company with a bright future, a clear vision and a strong leadership team. I am excited for the opportunity to continue to work with Bill, the board of directors and the entire Quanex team to drive safety and continuous operational improvement, and to create value for our shareholders, customers and employees.”

Wilson joined Quanex in 2011 and has served as an essential leader since that time. He served as general manager and president of the IG Systems team before being promoted to chief operating officer of Quanex in 2017. Before joining Quanex as part of the Edgetech acquisition, Wilson held several operational and financial leadership positions at Lauren International and Federal-Mogul.

After serving as a director on the Quanex board for a number of years, Griffiths took over as president, CEO and chairman of the board in July 2013. Through his vision and leadership since that time, Quanex has undergone a sweeping transformation, moving from what was essentially a holding company for multiple disparate product lines to a strategically focused company that is now easily identified as a key supplier to OEM’s in the fenestration and cabinet markets, say company officials.

“It has been extremely rewarding to lead this company over the last six years. Going forward, George is the right person to lead Quanex into the future. I look forward to supporting him and his executive team as we continue to refine and execute on our strategy,” says Griffiths.

Wilson’s appointment is part of a long-term and comprehensive succession plan put in place by the company board, and the announcements. Wilson and Griffiths will work closely together throughout this transition.

In addition to Wilson taking over as president and CEO, there have recently been other moves within the executive leadership team.

Scott M. Zuehlke now serves as senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer. Zuehlke joined Quanex in 2016 as vice president, investor relations and treasurer, and has most recently been serving as interim chief financial officer.

Paul B. Cornett has been appointed as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Cornett joined Quanex as a staff attorney in 2005 and has held various positions of increasing responsibility, most recently serving as vice president, deputy general counsel.

Mark A. Livingston is now vice president, chief accounting officer and controller. Livingston joined Quanex in 2019 as vice president, controller.
